The Oxford Textbook of Surgery approaches surgery from a practical point of view and attempts to cover most aspects of general surgery as well as giving an overview of the various specialist branches of surgery ranging from orthopaedics and neurosurgery through cardiothoracic surgery to plastic surgery. Contributors include staff from Oxford University Clinical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical School of the Harvard Medical School.

Surgical Treatment: evidence-based and problem-oriented
Surgical Treatment is based on the concept that the quality of the evidence upon which currently accepted clinical practice is based needs to be assessed frankly and taken into account when recommendations for patient treatment are made. This volume was designed to supplement rather than replace standard textbooks of surgery. It has international authorship.
