Now that you understand why we use databases and the planning involved when looking for journal articles, lets do a search using an example from the medical sciences.

Choosing a database
UNSW Library has access to hundreds of databases on different topics and covering different journals. If you are not sure where to start, try the databases list from the General Medicine subject guide. We will use the database Medline for this example. The Medline database indexes over 4,600 medical and health related journals and reports.

Accessing a database [Medline]
Use Sirius to access any UNSW Library database. Sirius is the gateway to UNSW Library electronic resources (databases, e-journals, e-books, subject guides etc.). For more information about Sirius, go to Sirius Help. To access Sirius, go to the UNSW Library homepage, http://info.library.unsw.edu.au/Welcome.html then follow the steps below:
