COFA Library - Multimedia Collection

The COFA Multimedia collection is located on Level 1 of the Library. The collection includes:

  • Over 100,000 slides
  • Music on CD
  • DVDs, videos, CD-Roms, audiocassettes and other audiovisual materials
Finding Items

Search either the COFA Media Databases or the Library Resources Database(catalogue) to find the location and call number for videos, DVDs, music CDs, CD-Roms, kits and cassettes.

Search the inhouse DigiTool Slide Database in the Multimedia area for the majority of slides held in the collection. The remaining one-third are available via a hard-copy index arranged alphabetically by artist and subject.

Borrowing

  • Items from the collection can be borrowed only by UNSW staff and students
  • 24 slides can be borrowed for 2 weeks by students and an unlimited number of slides for 3 weeks by staff
  • UNSW staff and students can reserve and borrow videos and DVDs on the campus only for classroom presentation. They can be viewed at any other time within the Library.
  • Music CDs, CD-Roms, audiocassettes, posters and kits can all be borrowed for 4 weeks
  • Sound effects CDs are campus loan only
  • All items must be returned through the chute at the Loans Desk
  • Conditions of loan, fines and penalties and the Library Rules apply to borrowing and use of items
Multimedia Collection - viewing and listening

  • Video players, DVD players, sound system, caramates and slide viewing light trays can be used without booking
  • Any copying should be done in the computer laboratories and Time-based studios in accordance with the requirements of the Copyright Act 1968
  • Equipment such as slide projectors, slide carousels, cassette players, etc. can all be borrowed from the Resource Centre in C Block
Screensound Australia

COFA academic staff are entitled to interlibrary loans from Screensound Australia. Requests must be at least 2 weeks in advance of screening and loans are for a maximum of 3 days only. Email the UNSW Library Film & Video Service
