Water Reference

WRL Collection

The Water Reference Library, located at Manly Vale, serves the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Water Research Laboratory. It was established in 1959 when the Laboratory opened.

The print collection includes: journals, books, research reports, technical reports, conference proceedings, audiovisual resources in the fields of fluid mechanics, hydraulics and coastal engineering. Hydrology, irrigation, water resources, water quality, groundwater and oceanography are also well represented. Resources in the Water Reference Library are identified by the prefix WRL in the UNSW Catalogue (LRD)

How to Borrow Material from WRL

WRL Library is part of UNSW Library, and borrowing is only available to persons registered as borrowers with UNSW Library.

UNSW Postgraduate Students and Staff can request loans from the WRL collection through UNSW Catalogue (LRD) by logging into Your Borrower Record and selecting the ILL Request tab.

UNSW Undergraduate Students may borrow by completing an Interlibrary Loan form, available by contacting the Document Delivery Unit. Requestors will be advised by email when books are ready for collection from UNSW Library, Kensington.

Books borrowed in person from WRL Library should be returned to WRL. Other return arrangements at Kensington can be organised with the WRL Librarian. WRL Library items borrowed in person at the WRL Library can also be renewed online via UNSW Catalogue (LRD) by logging into Your Borrower Record or by phoning the WRL Library (02 9949 4488 ext:234)

Non UNSW users can request loans from the WRL collection through standard interlibrary loans procedures, via another library which may be public, company, university or other.

How to visit WRL

Anyone can visit the Water Reference Library and, within the copyright provisions, photocopy from WRL resources (cost per A4 page is currently 10c).

If you are planning a visit to the Water Reference Library, always contact the Librarian in advance (02 9949 4488 ext 234) to be sure that the WRL Library is open and to check whether the material required is available.
