ELISE UNSW Study Skills Tutorial - ELISE ELISE is mandatory for entering undergraduate students Appropriate and efficient use of scholarly information is vital to academic success. This is not as simple as it seems. To ensure that you have the best opportunity to succeed the University has created ELISE – an online tutorial to introduce you to the scholarly information landscape and show you how best to navigate it. This will save you time and build your confidence. ELISE gives you a head start in understanding how to find, use and evaluate essential information, whether it be print or online. It will help you locate the services you need to maximise your academic potential. Learn how to recognise your information needs, search databases, evaluate resources and write quality assignments. ELISE also highlights the important issue of plagiarism and how to avoid it. It is suggested that you complete ELISE before week 5 to gain the maximum benefit in your first assignments. Yes, if this is your first semester of undergraduate study at UNSW, you must complete the tutorial and quiz. By completing the ELISE quiz and attaining a score of 80% or more, you will meet the University requirements. What will happen if I don't do it? You will not be permitted to enrol in the next semester. Where can I do ELISE? Anywhere you can access a computer - university campuses, home, work. When can I do ELISE? You can complete the tutorial and quiz 24/7, any time of the day or night. Can I do ELISE if I am not a new undergraduate student? Yes you can. To contact the library about the contents of this tutorial, please click on the Questions/Comments links located at the bottom of each page. For assistance with any technical problems, contact the IT Service Desk or phone 02-9385 1333. How long will it take me to do the quiz? There are 20 questions in the quiz. If you already have some understanding of the content of the tutorial, the quiz should take less than 40 mins. If you need to go over topics more than once, it may take longer. Most students take less than 30 minutes to do the quiz. How do I access the quiz? When you logon to My eLearning VISTA, click on the link to "ELISE UNSW Study Skills Tutorial - ELISE 2008". You can then click on ELISEQuiz2008 When can I access the tutorial? You can now access the UNSW Study Skills Tutorial - ELISE. The My eLearning VISTA quiz will be available prior to Week 1. |
