How to ... Using Sirius

5 | MetaSearch : Searching resources within Sirius
The MetaSearch option in Sirius allows you to search the databases or resources from within the Sirius system rather than linking out to the resource itself. The advantage of using MetaSearch is that it allows you to search numerous resources at one time.

To access MetaSearch click the tab from the top left hand side of the Sirius screen. You will need to log in using your staff/student number (with the s or z prefix) and your Unipass.

Follow the steps outlined below to search on selected resources via MetaSearch. Click on each step for detailed information or view an example by clicking on view demo.

Step 1: Identify the resources you wish to search
Step 2: Select resources to search
Step 3: Enter your search query
Step 4: Interpret your results
Step 5: Link to articles from your search results
Step 6: Save, email or export your search results

Note: At this stage not all resources which are found in Sirius can be searched using MetaSearch, only those indicated by a checkbox or the icon.
Note: If you want to do advanced type searching it is often better to link to the actual resource as some more specialised advanced search features are not available via MetaSearch.
