Notices

Please Note: All Library Notices are a courtesy only. Non receipt of Notices is not a valid reason to waive fines.

Notices may fail to reach you via e-mail due to factors beyond our control and you should check Your Borrower Record at least once a week for updates to any activities on your borrower record. Your Borrower Record is a reliable source for information on your Current Loans, Loan History List, Reservations and Cash Transactions.


How you receive your Library Notices

Through your Unimail Account for UNSW staff and students

  • The Library sends all notices to your Unimail account. You should check your Unimail account on a regular basis however, notices may fail to reach you via e-mail due to factors beyond our control.

Spam Filters

Spam is unsolicited email. Spam filtering allows you to automatically dispose of messages identified as spam. For tips on the use of SPAM filters see: SPAM filters

If you use a SPAM filter, please be sure to include library@unsw.edu.au as a legitimate sender of email messages.

Through your email account for non UNSW patrons

  • Non UNSW patrons will be sent Notices to the nominated email address on their application form.

TYPES OF NOTICES

SIGHTING / OVERDUE

Notices sent to staff for items on loan that are overdue or that need to be returned to the Library to be re-issued as a new loan. Fines apply to all overdue items.

HOLD REQUEST

Notification of items reserved by you and now awaiting collection from the Loans Desk.
Items are held for pickup for 4 days at the Loans Desk.

BORROWER - OVERDUE ITEMS

Reminder notices sent to you for overdue items. Fines apply to all overdue items.

COURTESY NOTICES

Notification of items that will soon be due for renewal or return.

RECALL LETTER

Items on loan to you that are being recalled for another borrower. Your loan period on any item is reduced when it is required by another borrower. It is your responsibility to check your email account or your borrower record on a regular basis. Fines apply to all overdue recalled items.

SUMMARY BILL FOR LOST MATERIAL

Items on loan to you that are 30 days overdue. These incur a lost/replacement fine.
