Loan Periods

Item type
Loan Period
Standard loan
  • 4 weeks UNLESS RECALLED   
  • 6 months for Academic and Professional & Technical staff
 
Items with multiple reservations
  • 3 days. Loan period ONLY applies when a reservation you pick up from the Reservation area (adjacent to MyCourse (Reserve) on Level 2 of the Main Library) has also been requested by other borrowers
Recalled items
  • must be returned within 7 days of the reservation being placed or by the due date if it is less than 7 days. UNSW Library will send a Recall Notice to your UNSW email account and the new due date will appear in your Borrower Record. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to ensure the item is returned by the correct date
Multimedia Collection (Level 2 Loans & Information Desk)  
excluding videos and DVDs shelved in the main collection and classed as a standard loan
  • videos and DVDs from the teaching collection

  • Academic staff - 5 days; students - 2 hours. Teaching collection videos and DVDs are to be used at the video/DVD stations.  For class presentations ask at Loans & Information Desk for a non-staff borrowing form. Vidoes and DVDs are NOT available for overnight loan
  • 2 hours. Music students have priority. These items are to be used at the listening stations. They are NOT available for overnight loan
MyCourse (Reserve) Collection
  • items from MyCourse (Reserve) Collection shelves                        
  • items from Level 2 Loans & Information Desk
  • overnight loans
 
 
  • 2 hour loan. These items can be renewed once provided the item was NOT loaned overnight. Not renewable during exam periods. Available for overnight loan
  • 2 hour loan. Not renewable
  • available 1 hour before Library closing time. Must be returned within 1 hour and 30 minutes of Main Library opening the following day

College of Fine Arts Library

  • slides (staff - 3 weeks - renewable; and students - 2 weeks - renewable)
  • videos must be returned on the same day as borrowed and can be taken to Kensington campus if required
  • CDs - contact COFA Library
 
 
  • available 1 hour before Library closing time. Must be returned within 30 minutes of COFA Library opening the following day
