Stack Collection
Items listed as "see Level 2 Loans Desk" in the UNSW Library catalogue are Stack items in the basement, they are available for borrowing and include:
- AGSM material still being processed for the Main Library collection - most items (except serials and reference books) can be borrowed for the standard loan period
- Theses and Stack Video collection - can be borrowed but CANNOT be taken out of the Library and must be returned before Library closing time on the day of borrowing
- Valuable books (located in the basement- prefix V, MBV, K, KLN, LV, UNSW, HPC). Please note: these items can be used Monday to Friday, by appointment only, in the University Archives. No weekend or public holiday access. Level 2 Loans & Information Desk Staff can assist with contacting Archives for access appointments
- Newspapers not on Microform that are 3-6 months old
Stack items need to be ordered before collecting them.
Procedure for ordering a Stack item
- click on the reserve link on the Library catalogue to order the item;
- note the CALL NUMBER of the item;
- note the times Library staff will collect the item;
- your item should be available for collection from the Level 2 Loans Desk of the Kensington Library approximately 20 minutes after the indicated retrieval time shown below - once retrieved the item will remain at the Loans Desk for a period of 4 days or until collected;
- take the item CALL NUMBER to the Loans Desk to collect your item.
Times
Library staff are rostered to retrieve Stack items from the Basement at the following times (opening hours can change):

| Friday |
10.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm, 4.00pm and 6.00pm |
| Saturday and Sunday |
12.00pm, 2.00pm and 4.00pm |
| Please note: 'Serials' requests cannot be reserved on the Library catalogue. Please complete a Stack Request form available at the Level 2 Loans Desk. |
