SciFinder

SciFinder Scholar upgrade

On Monday 29 June, 2009 UNSW Library's subscription to SciFinder Scholar moved to the web version, SciFinder. SciFinder Scholar is no longer available.

The new SciFinder provides online access to Chemical Abstracts, CASREACT chemical reactions database, Chemical Abstracts Registry File, and Medline.

The new interface also provides greater functionality than the previous version. New features include:

  • direct linking to data
  • improved search precision
  • index term linking
  • the ability to save up to ten previous sessions
  • links to saved answer sets and alerts to facilitate the sharing of results
  • the export to Excel of supplier information for multiple compounds
A comparison of the web and client versions of SciFinder can be accessed from http://www.cas.org/support/academic/sf/moveweb.html

SciFinder access

As a user of the new SciFinder, you must complete a once-off registration using your UNSW email address to create a personal login. After registering, you will receive an email from CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) with instructions for activating your registered login.

Off campus users will need to authenticate with their staff/student number and UniPass before proceeding to registration.

Register for and access SciFinder via Sirius

System requirements

Visit the CAS SciFinder System Recommendations and Requirements page for detailed information about system requirements. To enable the requirements on your computer, you will need to have site administrator access, or contact your IT support officer.

Please note that the structure drawing editor will only work if you have Java installed with your web browser.
