Browser Settings - Cache

Cache Settings

To access the Library electronic resources, you may need to adjust the cache settings of your web browser.

Instructions

Clearing the Cache (cookies/temporary internet files)

Windows IE 7

  1. Cick on Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. From the General tab, Browser History section
  4. Click on the Delete button
  5. The Delete Browsing History window opens
  6. Click on Delete files... and click on the Yes button at the prompt
  7. Click on Delete Cookies... and click on the Yes button at the prompt
  8. Click on the Close button
  9. Click on the OK button
Windows IE 4, 5 and 6 Browser

  1. Select Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Click on the Delete Cookies button
  4. Click OK
  5. Click on the Delete Files button
  6. Check the Delete all offline content box
  7. Click OK
  8. Click OK to exit
Firefox 2.x

  1. From the browser menu bar
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Select Clear Private Data Now from the drop down menu
  4. Check the Cache checkbox
  5. Check the Cookies checkbox
  6. Click on the Clear Private Data Now button
Safari (Mac OSX)

  1. Select Preferences from the Safari drop down menu
  2. Click the Security icon
  3. Click on the Remove All button and click on the Remove All button at the prompt
  4. Click on Done
  5. Close the Preferences window
  6. Click the Reload button inside the browser
Netscape 6 and 7

  1. Open Netscape browser
  2. Click Edit on the Toolbar
  3. Click Preferences
  4. Click Advanced, under the Category menu
  5. Click Cache
  6. On the right hand side Set Cache Options will be displayed. Click on the Clear Memory Cache button
  7. Click OK
  8. Click on the Clear Disk Cache button
  9. Click OK to exit

Setting the Page Caching Option

Windows IE 7

  1. Cick on Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. From the General tab, Browser History section
  4. Click on the Settings button
  5. The Temporary Internet Files and History window opens
  6. Select the Every time I visit the webpage radio button
  7. Click on the OK button
  8. Click on the OK button
Windows IE 4, 5 and 6 Browser

  1. Open IE browser
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. In the section called Temporary Internet Files, click on the Settings button
  5. At the Check for newer versions of stored pages: option, select the button for Every visit to the page.
  6. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Click OK to exit
Netscape 6 and 7

  1. Open Netscape browser
  2. Click Edit on the Toolbar
  3. Click Preferences
  4. Click Advanced, under the Category menu
  5. Click Cache
  6. On the right hand side the Cache options will be displayed
  7. At the compare the page in the cache to the page on the network: option, select the button for Everytime I view the page
  8. Click OK to exit
